We have been spinning
the web since before
the web had a name.

Like Arachne, whose weaving was so fine it rivalled the gods themselves, Zeus has spent twenty-seven years crafting digital experiences of uncommon quality — from the first university websites of the late 1990s to the complex learning platforms and integrations that power higher education today.

The founding · 1998

Born in a Vancouver basement apartment. Forged in the classics.

Zeus was founded by a web developer with an unusual combination of obsessions: code, ancient history, and the dig site. A graduate of Computer Science and Software Systems, an amateur archaeologist, and a lifelong scholar of the classics, our founder saw in the early web something the ancients would have recognised immediately — a new agora, a new Library of Alexandria, a place where knowledge could finally move freely.

The name Zeus was chosen deliberately. Not for thunder or dominion, but for what Zeus represented in the classical world: the guarantor of order, wisdom, and the protection of guests. In Greek, the word xenia — sacred hospitality — was Zeus's domain. We build things that welcome people in.

The first project was a university website. Then another. Then a real estate CMS, a travel booking platform, a social network before social networks had a name. Each one built with the same obsessive attention to craft that drives an archaeologist to brush dust from a 3,000-year-old shard.

27 years of craft

A thread that runs from 1998 to now.

Ariadne's thread led Theseus through the labyrinth and back again. Ours leads through nearly three decades of the web's own evolution — every twist, dead end, and breakthrough navigated without losing the original purpose: to build things that genuinely work for the people who use them.

We have survived Flash, survived the CMS wars, survived the mobile revolution, the cloud, the API economy, and the rise of the learning management system. Not because we chased trends, but because we stayed close to the institutions — universities, colleges, educational publishers — who needed a builder they could trust across decades, not just sprints.

Our philosophy

Education is the one thing
that makes the world better.

The ancient Greeks called it paideia — the complete formation of a person through education, culture, and the pursuit of excellence. It was the highest ideal of the classical world, and it remains ours.

We specialise in educational technology not because it is lucrative, but because we believe it matters. Every integration we build, every platform we engineer, every LMS we connect makes it fractionally easier for a student somewhere to learn something. Compounded across thousands of students and years, that is not a small thing.

Built to last
Built to last

The Parthenon has stood for 2,500 years because its builders cared about proportion, material, and detail. We build software the same way.

Education first
Education first

We take on educational technology work exclusively. Not because we cannot do other things, but because this is the work that matters most to us.

Honest craft
Honest craft

Hephaestus, the god of the forge, was not glamorous. He just made things that worked perfectly. That is the standard we hold ourselves to.
